Nelda Seal, former executive director of Woman’s Missionary Union in Louisiana and Texas, died April 28. She was 91.
A native of Louisiana, Seal earned a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in religious education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Seal started her career in education then became a speech therapist. In 1986, she became executive director of Louisiana WMU and served in that role until 1995. She returned as interim director from 1998 to 2001, then took on the same interim-type role for Texas WMU in 2008.
Over the years, Seal served on mission in Alaska and traveled to dozens of countries on missions trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry. She is survived by her sons, Ryan and Tim, and four grandchildren.
