Pleasant View Baptist Church, White Bird, Idaho, served its community in early April in an “Idaho kind of way.”
Church member Eloy Pineda, who owns a post and pole company, donated a truckload of timber to be used for firewood.
Knowing many Idaho residents are short on money and firewood this spring, the men’s group at the church gathered for breakfast and then cut, split and delivered 10–12 cords of free firewood to 12 families in the community.
More churches in Utah and Idaho (rather than from outside the two states) are becoming “sending” churches, Michael Cooper told attendees to UISBC’s recent annual meeting.
“We want to make Jesus nonignorable to the community around us,” Ridgway said.
It was early October, just days after Hurricane Helene produced thousand-year flood events and ravaged North Carolina’s mountainous western region.
“God’s love has poured into our church and people see that,” said Jeff Uskoski, pastor of Caribou Bible Church in Soda Springs, Idaho. “These ministries have begun from people’s wheelhouse.”
