Into The Light Ministries, co-founded by John-Michael Bout and Jacob Valk, is dedicated to equipping the church to fight the pervasive issue of pornography through gospel-centered resources. Currently pursuing an M.Div. at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, Bout has a deep passion for addressing this crisis within the church.
“The Devil has been attacking God’s good design for sexuality since the fall,” Bout said. “But today, he weaponizes technology like we have never seen before. In 2025, an 8-year-old can pull out their phone and instantly access millions of videos of graphic sex. Every parent must become a counselor, addiction expert and technologist to protect their families.”
Personal struggles
Having personally struggled with pornography from a young age, Bout recognized the urgent need for an accessible resource to guide individuals from bondage in sexual sin to freedom in Christ.
This desire led to the production of “Into The Light,” a documentary that teaches everyday Christians how to battle pornography through the gospel and practical means of grace provided by the church. Following the success of this documentary, Into The Light Ministries was established to continue producing biblical resources on sexuality for churches and families.
“Pornography is the burning house fire in the church today,” Bout said. “Many assume that men and women will remain addicted to pornography for life. But Paul didn’t have that view of sin (1 Corinthians 6:9–11), and neither does God. We must address this issue for the very life of the church and its mission to the lost world.”
