Since 2014, more than 300 members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Owensboro, Kentucky, have served a Native American community in South Dakota — recognized as the poorest in the Western Hemisphere — with rampant poverty, crime and abuse.
The Kentucky church works with Creator’s Fellowship, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, which has helped launch two church plants in the state.
They also conduct many outreach activities for children and meet physical needs, Kentucky Today reported.
