The Baptist General Association of Virginia has announced Food to Faith — an initiative that “brings mission and ministry together in a powerful new way.”
BGAV noted on its website, “By blending Impact Missions hunger grants with the community-centered spirit of Fresh Expressions’ Dinner Church Collective, this innovation is about more than just meals. It involves building relationships, sharing hope, and cultivating faith around the table. It’s not only about feeding people; it’s about creating a space where everyone belongs and shares God’s love together.”
Building community
Dean Miller, BGAV’s team leader for Impact Missions, noted, “Churches today are constantly asking themselves, ‘What do we need to do to get people to come to our church?’ Perhaps the better question is, ‘What do we need to do to make a difference in our community and be the hands and feet of Christ?’ People seeking faith today are much more compelled by actions than words, and Dinner Church is a great answer.”
