This disaster not only comes after the region’s recent recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene but also amid severe winter weather conditions including snow and ice.
“Complete strangers coming in and doing what they can is amazing,” Justice said. “Christ gave it all to us. I was so overwhelmed I don’t know where to start.”

It was early October, just days after Hurricane Helene produced thousand-year flood events and ravaged North Carolina’s mountainous western region.
“It makes us closer to serve together,” Ray said. “Everything we do together brings us closer to each other and to the Lord.”
“Now, we have added personal property recovery to our workload, helping families uncover precious keepsakes from the ashes — treasures that bring healing and remind them that hope is closer than they thought,” noted Kendrick Neal.
It is not a matter of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief becoming the arm of the government — it’s the government recognizing and supporting Christians who are eager to stretch out their arms to their neighbors in need.
“It has been amazing to see the materials and items that have been given to the warehouse. There are more givers than takers,” David Baines said.
