Around 5,600 women gathered in Athens, Georgia, from churches across the United States for Going Beyond Live at the largest live event Lifeway has hosted since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The Transitional Interim Pastor’s (TIP) Fellowship may well be the only ministry of its kind across the Southern Baptist Convention. It serves a significant role in the ministries of transitional interims in northeast Georgia.
A special ceremony took place at Phillips State Prison in Buford, Georgia. Faculty from Truett McConnell University gathered with prison staff, family and friends to celebrate 24 offenders who received degrees in Christian studies.
“During my second sermon in May of this year,” 11-year-old Colby Davis said, “I wanted people to have the seeds of salvation planted in their hearts and to think about removing the weeds, which are the sins from their lives.”
“We really are better together,” said Michelle Chitwood, wife of IMB President Paul Chitwood, pointing to the many similarities between ministries despite thousands of miles that normally separate the women she met on a trip to Zambia.
The recently released book, “From the Killing Fields to the Blessing Field,” tells of the daily bombing runs to Cambodia by the U.S. from 1969 to 1973, with 115,000 bombing sites in all.
