Former state convention executive director and longtime pastor Gary Hollingsworth named interim president of the SBC’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission today (Sept. 16).
The faculty and staff of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary launched the new academic year with a report from President David S. Dockery, reflecting with gratitude on God’s faithfulness over recent years.
The Worship Initiative recently announced a new digital hub called SBC Worship — to support music ministers and worship teams and equip them to sing the truth of Scripture.
“If families are drifting from the Lord and diving into sin and putting their faith on cruise control Monday through Saturday, then we are not really a healthy church because that is the church,” said Jonathan Williams.
The audio files from the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force’s 10 months of work in 2009 and 2010 were sealed for 15 years, the agreed-upon time by the group. The collection is housed in the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives and consists of 57 compact discs and very few paper documents.
“Southwestern Seminary is in a very different place than it was 33 months ago,” said David Dockery, president of Southwestern Seminary. “The board, faculty, staff and students are unanimous in their sense of joyful hopefulness.”
