Chip Holmes recently embarked on a unique fundraiser to support the nonprofit Stop Soldier Suicide.
Playing video games for 30 consecutive hours while live streaming, the vice president of the Dakota Baptist Convention aimed to raise funds for a call center assisting soldiers struggling with suicidal thoughts.
Holmes, who is a former soldier himself, understands the challenges faced by active-duty service members and veterans. He also is senior pastor of First Baptist Church Wolsey, South Dakota and Western Way Cowboy Church, Huron.
Scripture impact
During his military service, he provided spiritual support to fellow soldiers through Scripture passages.
According to the Stop Soldier Suicide website, 22 soldiers reportedly taking their lives daily and veterans are at a 57% higher risk.
