NANKODO SUB-COUNTY, Uganda — A teenaged evangelist was killed when Muslim extremists stormed his boat Aug. 31, according to a Morning Star News report.
Dante Tambika, 19, was beaten, tied with rope and strangled to death on Lake Lemwa near Nankodo 3 village, according to friend Stephen Mukama.
Mukama said he, Tambika and two other friends were returning to shore from fishing when alleged jihadists stormed the boat.
One assailant said Tambika’s father had converted many Muslims to Christianity and one demanded the four friends believe in Allah or be killed, Mukama said.
All but Tambika escaped and swam to shore because Tambika could not swim, according to Mukama.
Tambika had learned from his father (who died in 2019) how to share the gospel and had led five Muslim teens to Jesus Christ, a source said. His father had led about 30 Muslims, including a brother of one assailant, to faith in Jesus.
Uganda’s constitution and laws provide religious freedom, including propagating one’s faith. Muslims make up no more than 12% of the population.
