As love was celebrated this Valentine’s Day, new parents in Mississippi were being showered with love through a virtual baby shower for 21 pregnancy centers throughout the state.
Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch and Her PLAN Mississippi launched the “Empower Women Promote Life Donation Drive” Feb. 14 to empower pregnant women or those with young children with material support. The Drive is a virtual baby shower supporting nearly two dozen pregnancy centers throughout Mississippi, with an online list of pregnancy centers’ needs.
Empowering women, life
“We may have to wait on the [Supreme] Court’s Dobbs [v. Jackson] decision for a few more months, but we don’t have to wait to demonstrate how ready we are to support women,” Fitch said. “This Valentine’s Day, I am asking you to join me in showing a little extra love to these centers and the women they support by participating in a virtual baby shower for pregnancy centers all across Mississippi.”
Fitch has become the face of the historic case that was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court on Dec. 1, 2021. The case deals with the constitutionality of a 2018 Mississippi state law that banned abortion operations after the first 15 weeks of pregnancy.
“When the Supreme Court releases its hold on abortion policymaking, we will show the world that we are ready and willing to empower women and promote life,” said Fitch.
