Jackie Shroyer, also 44, was sentenced Nov. 5 to 24 years in prison and ordered to pay compensation to the victim’s family after a court found she helped plan the attack in which her husband was fatally stabbed, according to The Independent, an online British newspaper.
Three men were also convicted in the attack, according to multiple media reports. Local authorities allege Shroyer paid the men to carry out the murder. Her church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, reportedly confirmed the verdict. The couple’s five children are now living in the U.S.
The defense plans to appeal the court’s decision.
