Pastor, be found online in 2025 (master Google’s E-E-A-T now)

Churches today struggle to stand out online. With so many search results competing for attention, how can your church be known for what it offers and reach people who need it most? Google rewards websites that demonstrate E-E-A-T: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness. If your church isn’t building content and believability in these areas, you will continue to struggle in the search results.

Here’s how you can align your digital presence with Google’s E-E-A-T principles — and ultimately, be known for serving your community well. For the gospel.

  1. E – Share your church’s experience through real stories.

Google values content that shows real-life experience. This means you need to demonstrate how your church has helped people navigate life. This should be easy! Consider sharing testimonials, stories from members, or videos of your pastor talking about active faith. Tip:  Include specifics and links to other ministries! For example, a blog on how your church hosted an event for families experiencing loss provides concrete evidence of the benefits of joining your church in ministry.

  1. E – Show expertise through relevant and helpful content.

People search for answers online. Does your church provide solutions they’re looking for? Position your ministry leadership as experts by writing blogs or creating videos around topics your community cares about — like mental health, marriage, or parenting from a biblical perspective. Tip: Add a dedicated blog or resources page to your website where you regularly post content. When you are known for offering helpful guidance (to needs, concerns, and goals), Google will view your site as valuable and rank you higher.

  1. A – Build authority by highlighting community impact

Authority grows when others recognize your work. If other websites or organizations link to your church’s content, it signals to Google that your church is a credible resource. Tip: Partner with local nonprofits, community groups, or other churches. When they link back to your events or resources, it boosts your site’s authority. Also, ask members to share your social content on their personal networks! Make it easy!

  1. T – Earn trust by keeping your Website transparent and up to date

Trustworthiness is critical in Google’s ranking system. Outdated website content hurts both trust and SEO (search engine optimization). Ensure your church’s information (e.g. times, locations, and contact details) is always current and easy to find. Tip: Include contact forms so visitors know how to reach you to correct information. Use current, quality content to build trust. Have forms? You need a privacy policy.

When your church prioritizes E-E-A-T (experience, expertise, authority, and trustworthiness) in all online communication, it not only improves your search engine rankings but also helps your church be known for the right things. Note: Mastering E-E-A-T isn’t just about getting found though — it’s about communicating the gospel with your church’s mission so it builds credibility and reaches your community for Christ.
