Southern Baptists heard about, learned about and discussed creeds — specifically the Nicene Creed — more in 2024 than likely any other time in recent years.
We, the undersigned, are Southern Baptist pastors and leaders who love our family of churches and who are grateful for the hard-won complementarian commitments expressed in the Baptist Faith & Message.
The EC and Southern Baptists desperately needed stability. The EC’s credibility was in shambles after six years of making news for all the wrong reasons.
Jeff Iorg, in his first year as EC president, said the spirit of Southern Baptists has been his greatest encouragement.
“I’m trying to avoid haphazard or rushed decisions. I’m more interested in methodical, systematic, real progress than I am haphazard or rushed decision-making that really doesn’t pay a benefit we need in the long run.”
“Ministry is difficult, but it’s not complicated. It’s supposed to be simple. Share the gospel, make disciples, and build churches that send people to share the gospel, make disciples, and build churches,” Jeff Iorg said.

“I would say, it’s not so much on the back burner as it is we want to teach churches how to access databases that already exist … ” said Jeff Iorg, president and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee.
