NewSpring Church, which has more than 14,000 members at 13 campuses across South Carolina, has announced its withdrawal from the Southern Baptist Convention, citing the “distress and conflict” its continued affiliation is causing.

Jeff Iorg, in his first year as EC president, said the spirit of Southern Baptists has been his greatest encouragement.
“I’m trying to avoid haphazard or rushed decisions. I’m more interested in methodical, systematic, real progress than I am haphazard or rushed decision-making that really doesn’t pay a benefit we need in the long run.”
“Ministry is difficult, but it’s not complicated. It’s supposed to be simple. Share the gospel, make disciples, and build churches that send people to share the gospel, make disciples, and build churches,” Jeff Iorg said.
