Samantha Fulnecky’s final grade won’t be negatively affected by her Christian views on a controversial issue. The University of Oklahoma student recently complained she was discriminated against after receiving a zero on her essay that expressed her Christian views on gender. Fulnecky went on to file a complaint after a teaching assistant called her response “offensive” and lacking evidence and gave her the failing grade, Decision Magazine reported. And the university sided with the student.

Following the uproar to that decision, the university decided to put the teaching assistant on leave, noting it took the student’s concerns and the First Amendment seriously. Following Fulnecky’s appeal concerning her grade, The Oklahoman reported, the university said the assignment would not affect her final score. Fulnecky said she hopes her story will embolden others to defend their Christian faith, Fox News reported.
