A new podcast titled “It Could Only Happen to a Pastor” was recently launched by the North American Mission Board and is hosted by Southern Baptist pastors Matt Capps and Josh Reavis. The show invites listeners into the hilarious, awkward and “did that really happen?” moments that come with shepherding a local church.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld dismissal of a lawsuit brought by former Maryland/Delaware Baptist executive Will McRaney against the North American Mission Board.
“We have so much to be thankful for at the North American Mission Board and for what we have seen God do this past year,” said Kevin Ezell, president of the North American Mission Board.
“You must be out of your mind.” No one said it. But it had to be what most reasonable people were thinking when they heard what Christian and Laura Rowland had decided to do.
“It really gets to me when I tell people we’re from Flint,” Leo Robinson says, “They’ll say, ‘Oh, you must hate it there,’ or ‘You must not be able to leave.’ People always have something negative to say.”
“You can go pretty much an hour in any direction from where I live and you’ll see absolutely nothing — no gas stations, no subdivisions, no shopping centers—nothing,” Tyler Martin says.
The Annie Armstrong offering is used for training, support and care for missionaries, like Osvaldo and Vanessa Lerma, and for evangelism resources.
“This is a beautiful community,” says David Gaskins. “Our nickname is Happy Valley. Every lawn is perfect. Every home is immaculate. But that’s the wild thing — Happy Valley is a sarcastic nickname because almost nobody is happy here.”
